Winton, a member of the Knox Lumber Company of Duluth, which did signifiant logging around Ely and Winton area. is 4 miles northeast of Ely, MN, Winton is just a stone's throw from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, while nearby Fall Lake boasts great black crappie, northern pike, rock bass, smallmouth bass, and walleye fishing.
